Donut Falls
One of my favorite things about this summer is that my kids are old enough to do some exploring in the mountains with me. Brian is becoming a really great hiker. I've been amazed at how far he can go and how much he enjoys it. His increasing ability makes it possible for me to take the kids on my own. We would prefer to do things as a family with Mark, but Mark has been busy traveling with work and the numerous church activities he is in charge of and needs to attend. We'll just have to make do without him for now.
The Backyard
Again our backyard does not disappoint. Even in the heat, most of the yard, (especially the top part) is in the shade and is much cooler than any park or anywhere else we go in the city. Every time we are outside somewhere else, we just want to go back to our own cool, shady, fun backyard. We are so lucky! The sandbox is still the favorite spot. I am in the market for another little sandbox with a lid. These boys are just getting too big to share.
Indoors
Brian and Timothy are best buddies. Indoors, outdoors, wherever they are, they have so much fun together. They laugh and scream and chase and play. The below picture was one day they spent over an hour playing on the floor in Timmy's room. They were pretending to sleep and then Brian would "read" a book to Timmy and then they would turn off the light and giggle and "sleep" some more. I love listening to them play.
Water Fun
So far, this summer has been hot hot hot. We try to get wet often to cool down.Brian has been taking swimming lessons again and he's doing great. Even with the heat he gets cold when wet so he continues to wear his wet suit when swimming. I think he'll be sporting a wet suit for years to come. He definitely got my Mom's genes when it comes to getting cold easily.
