Taiwan

Our family has just returned from an incredible ten day vacation to Taiwan, paid for by these two fabulous people, Mark's parents. . .
. . .in order to visit this tiny little lady in the middle, Mark's paternal grandmother.
Mark's Nai Nai turned 98 years old while we were there, and she has been wishing to meet Brian who is one of two great grandsons to carry the Hsiao name. Mark's dad offered to take all of his children and their children to meet her and it was the best time for us to go before baby number two arrives. Overall it was one of the most treasured experiences of my life, and I cannot thank Daniel and Alice enough for their willingness to take us. I have so many pictures and so many things I want to record forever. However, my jet lagged pregnant body in company with a jet lagged toddler whose days and nights are completely messed up, demand my attentions elsewhere. There will be a detailed travel log hopefully soon. In the meantime you may know that we arrived home safely and had the experience of a lifetime.

Parents

I haven't even been able to talk to my parents since the visitor's center opened in San Diego because they have been so incredibly busy. All I have heard from them is a quick email from my mom with this picture attached and a message that said they are still really busy. At this point I get to imagine what they are doing everyday with the help of these wonderful articles about the new historic sight. This article in the Church News has some great recent pictures (not of my parents, but still cool), and this one has some good pictures as well as some interesting videos. Mom and Dad, if you get a chance to check out my blog I hope you are getting the hang of everything, that you are happy, and that your schedule gets a little easier so you get enough sleep! I love you so much and we miss you!

Random Bits From Brian's Life

Brian and I both love Reading Time at the library. We go every week they have it if we can, and our Wednesdays just don't feel the same when we can't go. He is at an age where he enjoys the stories they read and the songs they sing. He gets excited when he recognizes something he knows in the books and points and says what it is. The library we go to also always has a little craft or coloring activity following reading, which Brian surprisingly gets excited about. I love the library! I have made friends with some of the moms who also go every week and enjoy my association with them. The following pictures are of Brian playing with the kids after Reading Time, which he also loves!

The kiddo really missed his swing this winter. We get out once in a while to swing and play, but it is nothing compared to the everyday occurrence during nice weather.

He has loved the backyard sledding when there is enough snow.

Luckily this last week's weather hasn 't required a snow suit and snow boots. We've been to the park twice, Hogle Zoo once and gone on several walks and trike rides. We are definitely excited for more spring weather!
This video was taken way back at the beginning of December.

Brian had been doing this with his grape-nuts for a long time before we got out the camera. He finds the smallest things hilarious sometimes.
