Timmy Turns 5

Timmy turned 5 at the end of May!  My baby is 5 years old!  At this age, Timmy is funny, happy, cute, cuddly, fun, goofy, and smart.  His smile and laugh bring joy to everyone he is around.  He loves bugs, animals, Legos, stuffed animals, being read to, playing with Brian, riding his tractor and bike, coloring, and just being in company with mom and dad.  He is learning to read and is really good with numbers.  He is so ready for Kindergarten in the Fall.

Timmy is pure joy most of the time.  He does sometimes whine when he's tired and he has gotten in a little habit of not doing as I ask right away.  We're working on listening the first time.  When he pays attention and focuses on what is going on, he learns and remembers everything.  He gets distracted easily and often is contemplating something in his head and misses what is being said around him.  Even when he's not paying attention though he is one cute dude.

We celebrated his birthday three days in a row.  His birthday was the day after Memorial Day this year.  Sunday we had the Hsiao family over for dinner. Margaret brought cupcakes for Timmy!

We talked to Nai Nai and Ye Ye and Timmy opened his gift from them.  The best present ever, a whole pack a dried seaweed all for him!

He went right to town gobbling it all up!

Then he played with cousins outside and in the park.

The next day we took advantage of the Memorial Day BBQ at the ranch and celebrated Timmy's birthday with the Evans family!  Timmy does not like frosting, so everyone who did want it had to frost their own cupcakes.

Then he got spoiled by Grandma and his cousins!  He loves his presents.

The kids also got in the hot tub.

And played and played and played outside.  These boys love playing together at the ranch.

Tuesday was Timmy's actual birthday and I went to school with him to help in his class and share treats.

Later that afternoon we picked Brian up from school and went to Jungle Jim's at Timmy's request.  The boys loved it!  Mark met us there after work for some pizza.

The only thing Timmy asked for as a birthday present was another little giraffe to sleep with.  We were hoping it could replace his ratty old giraffe, but has only become old Giraffie's best friend.

What a fun birthday weekend!  Happy Birthday Timmy!

Timmy went to the doctor for his well child check the next week and is growing and doing well.  He still gets sinus infections after every cold.  He weighs 39 lbs and is 43 inches tall which is right around average for his age.  He had to get his immunizations for Kindergarten and was so brave.  We love our Tim Tim!

May

The month of May was so much fun! We had two birthdays, Mother's Day, a piano recital, a one night trip to Park City, a trip to the zoo, boating adventures, yard improvements, school parties and programs, Memorial Day, and lots of fun and work in between.

One of the first weekends in May brought the piano recital, Mark's birthday and Mother's Day all in one fun weekend!

We celebrated with cake at home with Mark, a trip to the Asian market for some of Mark's favorite food, and dinner at Outback Steakhouse.

The boys gave me sweet notes for Mother's Day and Brian spoke in Sacrament Meeting.  He was the youngest and best speaker that day!  I am so glad to be the mother of the best boys in the world!

I noticed in the picture below that I was still wearing the brace for my broken thumb.  I think I was finally able to go without it by the end of May.  It's now almost the end of June and it still hurts sometimes, but I can use it for the most part.

The boys begged Mark to wrap them up in this extra plastic wrap we had.  Sometimes they think the strangest things are hilarious.

Here they are as dirty little shirtless boys laughing as a ladybug crawls and tickles them all over.

May was mostly rainy and cool.  It felt like in rained almost every day.  We sure are missing it now.

This is Timmy being Timmy while Brian is at school.

The next weekend in May, we went to Park City for a night.  When Mark won his big Ping Pong tournament he also won a night's stay at a hotel in park City.  So we went up for a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We swam in the amazing hotel pool for hours and hours.  The boys could not get enough.

We finished off the fun the next day with lunch at the Baja Cantina.  It was great to have such a fun time as a family!

One day we went to the zoo and saw most of it before we got rained out.  The boys love the dinosaurs.

Mark worked really hard in May in the yard.  He finished the fence at the back of the field, built and hung a gate, and put welded wire around the entire field to keep in goats.

While Mark and I worked on the fence, the boys had a whole lot of fun playing in the dense forest next to the field.

Timmy loves loves bugs.  He spent hours in May catching, playing with, and talking to all manner of bugs.

The boys also discovered the stream in the park and all the adventures they can have there.  I don't know why I thought it would be fine to let them play there in their nice clothes.  These outfits are now play clothes.

Our roses bloomed in May.  Timmy went out on the porch every single day to check on them and smell them.

The end of May was full of birthday celebrations for Timmy and the purchase of this fishing boat.

Mark bought it from a friend and we took it to Rockport on the one warm sunny day of the month.  We had a blast, but apparently it was not enough fun to justify keeping it and Mark sold it for profit the next week. I guess we're just not motorboat kind of people.
