Independence Day

This was our first Independence Day in our new house.  Our new neighborhood has their huge neighborhood party on the morning of July 4th.  We thought we would check in out this year instead of the parade in Oakley.  They had an awesome bike parade, then breakfast, games and face painting in the park that is connected to our house.

 The kids decorated their bikes and we brought the goats (which were a huge hit) for the bike parade.

It was fun to take part in celebrating with our neighbors.  Then I took the boys straight up to the ranch where we followed Dave and Jordan and Caitlin over to the kids rodeo.  We were a little late so the kids had no idea what was going on and Timmy missed his age group.  However, we did make it for Brian to try to catch a chicken with his cousins.  Apparently Jordan had been begging and begging to go try to catch a chicken and he was so determined to get one.  Here they are ready to run!

And guess who caught a chicken?  Jordan!  We still can't believe it happened.  There were so many kids and only four chickens!  He went so fast and dove so far to get his beloved Fluffy.  I think she has a brand new home in their backyard.

Back at the ranch we ate and talked with my extended family at the Cannon Family BBQ.  Brian stayed with Jordan and his chicken all day keeping the dog away from her and making sure she had everything she needed.  Timmy played  and hung out with me.

I got to help babysit my favorite two-year-old girl!  We all helped watch Ellie because Mandy surprised us all and had her baby that morning!

I still can't believe baby Connor came on the 4th of July!  He is the most perfect baby and we are all excited that we get to celebrate his birthday every 4th of July now!

The boys were exhausted by evening time and so we came home and they went right to sleep.  Timmy was actually getting sick and they needed their sleep.  Mark went to a Real Soccer game with a friend and a sat outside and enjoyed spectacular fireworks all evening long from my backyard.  Our barn roof has a great view of several huge firework displays.  It was beautiful and the kids were so tired they slept through it all.
